A Very Special Letter to my TG/Bi/G/L friends:
As of 1/20/03, I no longer have a valid Gay.com account. Essentially, they have abandoned the Transgendered among
us in favor of a "Meet and Greet" format. And, while there may be a number of Transgendereds online there still, I for
one am tired of the following:
1. In sending a number of e-mails to the e-mail address given for the host, I have had no response whatsoever-
making me wonder if the host even got the messages at all;
2. The site for Transgendereds-Transgender Gazebo-that I do have an address for is not easily accessible …if
you can get to it at all;
3. The page itself has not changed much-if at all-in months. This is not a crime, but there is still news up from
Spring 2002;
4. The new format seems to exist solely to be a connections service. While this is okay, I get tired of trying to
close the pop-up every time I move to a new page, and finally, the most important thing is:
5. They are focusing more specifically on Gays, and to a lesser degree, Lesbians. This is well and good...but
Bisexuals, much less the Transgendered among us, are basically being told to "Beat it, kids…you're
bothering us."
Fine. I can take the rather broad hint, and since I have long had my website on Tripod, and since there are places
where we who are Transgendered are welcome, I am going to go to those places instead.
What should you do? I cannot answer that for you. I would say it depends: If Gay.com is what you want, fine. Go
there. Support them, because (obviously) they are filling some sort of need. They may no longer be meeting my
needs, but it is still a very good site to visit…if you're gay! If you feel as I do, ask to have your account deleted. If
enough of us do that, they will take notice (maybe), and may even ask why. Tell them, and in no uncertain terms.
You should also support Transgender friendly sites, such as TrannyWeb, and/or sites that belong to the
Transgender Web Ring.
I am sorry to be so negative about this...but when I started acknowledging my transgender existence, Gay.Com.
was a good place to catch up on the news, people, gossip, etc. of being Transgendered. Now, it seems all they
want is to sell me stuff I don't want, meet people who are NOT like me, and all the while try to convince me that I
am still a part of "The Alternate Lifestyle".
If that's really the case, then why can't I find what I want there anymore?
See you on TrannyWeb!
Luv `n hugs,
Lady Jayne Sakura
