Lately on TrannyWeb there has been a call for unity. Now, there's a bunch of stuff I won't get into about that; I am not sure of all the details and am not really wanting
to “go there”, though I have posted my thoughts on the topic.
It has gotten me to thinking about unity in the broader sense of TG/TS/CD life, however.
One of the best things of running a website like this is that I can voice my own opinion. So, here it is, in black and cherry-blossom for all to read: We need to pull
together as a group called TransGender. NOW. We no longer have the luxury of petty bickering, of turf wars and border clashes. We need to start working together
now for the greater good.
The girls on TrannyWeb are like my own family. We (by and large) attempt to put the “fun” in dysfunctional. I trust these gals, many of them, more than some of my
own personal family. (With the secrets of being Transsexual, Transgender, or Cross-Dressers, we all have to trust each other to a point, y'know?) There's a few I'd
even trust with my checkbook.
But this goes past that. Waaaaaaaaay past that. It is high time, dear readers, we start lining up and becoming a bit more vocal. A bit more obvious. It's time to tell
America (or wherever it is that you live, dear) that we are not going to go away. We are here to stay, and so you'd better make some room for us in your neighborhoods.
Many of us do not want anything more than to be recognized as the women we are. (Or, if you're FtM, the men.) We are not really perverts, we do not want your children,
and we are not sex-slaves. Many of us would like to get married as the women we are. (If I could find a man worth having, I'd be there, fully made up, wedding gown and
party in tow. What woman doesn't dream of her wedding day?) Many, many of us simply want to live as the people we really are, myself included.
We may not see that in our lifetimes. And if we don't keep things moving, our children and grandchildren probably won't, either.
Not all that long ago, I wasn't all that interested in being political. Now, I find I have to. I find I have a public voice; people are reading my books, my diaries (when I update
them), and these columns. I don't get to play nice and quietly anymore. I haven't really been able to since about 2003. I do a disservice to my sisters now and in the future
when I do keep quiet.
So, I'll put out the call. Please…consider joining the fight for our rights as TS.TG/CD Let's make our voices heard, loud and clear, while we still can. Fight for our rights.
Vote! Vote for those who support our rights. (I did. This election I voted my conscience (not by party) to the general disgust of my S.O.-but to the delight of her folks and
mine.)
I want there to be a world for those sisters yet to come. They will come, rest assured. There won't be a world safe for them if you and I don't step up in the here and now.
As I have said before: We are the new pioneers. Others will follow in our high-heeled footsteps.
