This started off to be another article about Christmas.
I changed my mind. (That is a woman's prerogative, after all.) This turned into an article about what I want for Christmas this year.
This year, these are the things I want:
I want peace on earth, for at least a day. Preferably longer. And goodwill towards all people, regardless of race, gender or creed. End war-wherever it is. Right
or wrong, end it now, please. We need to stop killing our kids.
I also want things like murder, theft, and other crimes-petty or felonious-to come to an end. I'd like to see prisoners taught a trade, and given aid to find honest
work when they're released.
I want everyone on Earth to be warm (or cool, depending on their location), healthy, well-fed, and educated, especially in the ways of peace.
I want poverty eradicated. People should be able to take care of themselves; money should not be an issue.
I want global warming issues to be resolved, and fixed. Now.
I want racism, genderism, and any other “isms” to be eradicated as well.
I want cures found for diseases like AIDS, SIDS, HPV and cancer.
I want good, affordable health care for all. That would include things like SRS for those who want it, and over the counter hormones.
I want drug abuse to end, too. There's a trade that needs eradication, and soon!
I want acceptance for those of us in the Transgender community. I want us to be free to walk outside and be accepted for who we are…not what we look like.
I want there to be hope for the future. Without hope, we have nothing.
Finally, I want the very best for you in this coming year. Really.
You might look at that and say, “Geez, Mina! That's awfully high and mighty stuff!” And, you're right. It is. But if one is going to wish…wish big, luvs.
Oh, sure. I want new clothes, makeup, jewelry, etc. What girl doesn't? But those are things I can (and possibly will) get, either as gifts or on my own. But the things
I've listed above…those are really big things. Things we all need to hope for, work for…and pray for.
Join me in hoping, wishing, and making these things happen.
Have a joyous holiday, and a prosperous and blessed New Year.
